Gerry Broome/Bloomberg News In a pharmaceutical research laboratory in North Carolina, U.S. Nobody knows the real costs of drug research and development as no direct figures are available from the industry.

The claims pharmaceutical multinationals make about high R&D costs are invariably false. By ANAND GROVER

If western corporations are 'greedy' because all they care about is money ... then why are Indian firms charging a profit on the "poor" for the drugs they copied? So if I understand the Indian mentality correctly, you're basically telling firms to go ahead and attract shareholders, investors, borrow money, pay scientists and create a drug ..... but don't charge us because we're poor??? OR is it because neither the govt, people or their firms want to do the hard work???????

Good job! A detailed public discussion in the form of a workshop/seminar by all concerned should be organised before we conclude on this and such topics. It is high time we make similar studies on real estate, IT, electronics, automobile industries etc. The sky high earnings of staff in these
sectors put the common to great disadvantage. Common man numbers account
for more than 85% in society. It is necessary to protect him.

All MNC are heartless, merciless entities. Their only goal is to make money. And to consolidate their avenues of making this money. They do not care about the environment, or the people. I wonder what they will do with all the money after they have destroyed the Earth? We should not allow the MNC any liberties in our country. We should understand that We DO NOT NEED them they need us and our markets. Wish we could go back to self reliance! Instead of Globalization. The prosperity promised by Western Free Market is a myth and has fizzled out. Most of Europe is in deep trouble with people attempting suicide in many poor European Countries. If they cannot keep Europe and American economy in working order how can they make us prosperous. I wish we had a good national leader with wisdom and foresight. Bharat Mata ki Jai!

Better than fighting the patent wars, the pharma companies should check the deluge of spurious drugs in the market. The spurious drugs are not only killing the people but also the innovation(and pockets too!). The recent spurious drug scam that surfaced in Kashmir is an example(though tip of the iceberg only)!!!

Thanks to Judiciary. Public expect the Judiciary to take the lead in solving the burning public issues. Often our political leaders fail to address the commoner's problems.

No doubt the drug MNCs making exponential profits on their discoveries but its to be understood that its not just about to recover the discovery or R&D expenses, the painstaking process from Discovery(synthesizing and testing thousands of molecules to get one to market passing all trials and regulations even overcoming the competition should be rewarded otherwise the enthusiasm to innovate will be affected. Anyway Supreme court had taken the right decision. The decision will certainly help those who suffer from blood cancer.

Truth is a bitter pill and obviously nobody is interested in it. Half lies are easy to manipulate.Hence they will always be favorites of Greedy corporate world. Corporates can not understand meaning of deep pain/suffering/helplessness/suicide pro tendency of poor unless they experience it. Their motto is only profit.Charity is government's job, Corporates are least bothered.
