Population explosion and subsequent urbanization is one of the great contributors towards the abysmal living condition in the cities. Pollution to a certain extent is uncontrollable due to the heavy vehicular traffic in the cities. Though the municipal corporations are doing their bit for treating the sewage water and solid waste dispersal & management, we ourselves are to be blamed for the dirty and filthy conditions in different parts of the city. Most of us use roads and the sewage drains as the dustbins. We as a responsible citizen must refrain from these kind of activities and inculcate good habits to save our cities from pollutants. Excessive usage of polythene bags are badly affecting the clean environment. These should be banned with immediate effect. Public awareness is of foremost importance to keep our city environment clean and green.

All the comparisons are self-referential (to each other and to itself) and domestic (no foreign cities). There is also no "hard" data: e.g. air pollution is 70 ppm, vs. say, 5 ppm in New York and 20 ppm as the UN standard, etc

The growing urbanization overburdened the available infrastructure. Need
of the hour is to find sustainable solutions through urban planning and
scientific innovations. Unplanned cities are acting as heat islands
which compounded the problem of global warming.Countries like Germany
are pioneering sustainable alternatives ,we can learn a lot from them .
